Coup d'etat

4 Reaction(s)
The army commander Gen Sonthi Boonyarataglin staged a coup d'etat Tuesday evening (Thailand time) and ousted the government of Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra. The coup, which is Thailand's first in fifteen years, followed a lengthy political crisis involving Thaksin and political opponents, occurring less than a month before elections were scheduled to be held, on October 15. The military junta cancelled the upcoming elections, abrogated the Constitution, dissolved Parliament, banned political protests, declared martial law, arrested Cabinet members, and blacked out all local and international news broadcasts in Thailand. No casualties have been reported.
-Bangkok Post, 19-20 September, 2006

Gising, frend.

May multivitamins, vitamin E, vitamin C, royal jelly, tsaka ginko biloba.

Dati, laging may inuman.

Dagli akong nabighani
sa ankin mong kagandahan
wari bang isang anghel

pag-ibig kaya o pag-hanga
hay.. di ko alam

Sana kung meron mang makakaalam
sa akin sana inyong ipaalam
o pag-ibig ba..
o sadyang paghanga lamang

Why is the Filipino special?
Ed Lapiz

Filipinos are brown. Their color is at the center of human racial strains.

This point is not an attempt at racism, but just for many Filipinos to realize that our color should not be a source of or reason for an inferiority complex. While we pine for a fair complexion, white people are religiously tanning themselves, under the sun or artificial light, to approximate the Filipino complexion.

Filipinos are a touching people. We have lots of love and are not afraid to show it. We almost inevitably create human chains with our perennial akbay (putting an arm around another's shoulder), hawak (hold), yakap (embrace), himas (caressing stroke), kalabit (touching with the tip of the finger), kalong (sitting on someone else's lap), etc. We are always reaching out, always seeking interconnection. Filipinos are linguists. Put a Filipino in any city, any town around the world. Give him a few months or even weeks and he will speak the local language there. Filipinos are adept at learning and speaking languages. In fact, it is not uncommon for Filipinos to speak at least three: his own local dialect, Filipino, and English. Of course, a lot speak an added language, be it Chinese, Spanish or, if he works abroad, the language of his host country.

In addition, Tagalog is not 'sexist.' While many "conscious" and "enlightened" people of today are just by now striving to be "politically correct" with their language and, in the process, bend to absurd depths in coining "gender sensitive" words, Tagalog has, since time immemorial, evolved gender-neutral words like asawa (husband or wife), anak (son or daughter), magulang (father or mother), kapatid (brother or sister), biyenan (father-in-law or mother-in-law), manugang (son or daughter-in-law), bayani (hero or heroine), etc. Our languages and dialects are advanced and, indeed, sophisticated! It is no sm all wonder that Jose Rizal, the quintessential Filipino, spoke some twenty-two languages! Filipinos are groupists. We love human interaction and company. We always surround ourselves with people and we hover over them, too. According to Dr. Patricia Licuanan, a psychologist from Ateneo and Miriam College, an average Filipino would have and know at least 300 relatives.

At work, we live bayanihan (mutual help); at play, we want a kalaro (playmate) more than laruan (toy). At socials, our invitations are open and it is more common even for guests to invite and bring in other guests. In transit, we do not want to be separated from our group. So what do we do when there is no more space in a vehicle? Kalung-kalong! (Sitting on one another). No one would ever suggest splitting a group and wait for another vehicle with more space! Filipinos are weavers. One look at our baskets, mats, clothes, and other crafts will reveal the skill of the Filipino weaver and his inclination to weaving. This art is a metaphor of the Filipino trait. We are social weavers. We weave theirs into ours that we all become parts of one another. We place a lot of premium on pakikisama (getting along) and pakikipagkapwa (relating). Two of the worst labels, walang pakikipagkapwa (inability to relate), will be avoided by the Filipino at almost any cost.

We love to blend and harmonize with people, we like to include them in our "tribe," our "family"- and we like to be included in other people's families, too. Therefore we call our friend's mother nanay or mommy; we call a friend's sister ate (eldest sister), and so on. We even call strangers tia/tita (aunt) or tio/tito (uncle), tatang (grandfather), etc. So extensive is our social openness and interrelations that we have specific title for extended relations like hipag (sister-in-law's spouse), balae (child-in-law's parents), inaanak (godchild), ninong/ninang (godparents) kinakapatid (godparent's child), etc.

In addition, we have the profound 'ka' institution, loosely translated as "equal to the same kind" as in kasama (of the same company), kaisa (of the same cause), kapanalig (of the same belief), etc. In our social fiber, we treat other people as co-equals. Filipinos, because of their social "weaving" traditions, make for excellent team workers. Filipinos are adventurers. We have a tradition of separation. Our myths and legends speak of heroes and heroines who almost always get separated from their families and loved ones and are taken by circumstances to far-away lands where they find wealth or power.

Our Spanish colonial history is filled with separations caused by the reduccion (hamleting), and the forced migration to build towns, churches, fortresses or galleons. American occupation enlarged the space of Filipino wandering, including America, and there is documented evidence of Filipino presence in America as far back as 1587. Now, Filipinos compose the world's largest population of overseas workers, populating and sometimes "threshing" major capitals, minor towns and even remote villages around the world. Filipino adventurism has made us today's citizens of the world, bringing the bagoong (salty shrimp paste), pansit (sautéed noodles), siopao (meat-filled dough), kare-kare (peanut-flavored dish), dinuguan (innards cooked in pork blood), balut (unhatched duck egg), and adobo (meat vi naigrette), including the tabo (ladle) and tsinelas (slippers) all over the world.

Filipinos are excellent at adjustments and improvisation, managing to recreate their home, or to feel at home anywhere. Filipinos have Pakiramdam (deep feeling/discernment) . We know how to feel what others feel, sometimes even anticipate what they will feel. Being manhid (dense) is one of the worst labels anyone could get and will therefore, avoid at all cost. We know when a guest is hungry though the insistence on being full is assured. We can tell if people are lovers even if they are miles apart. We know if a person is offended though he may purposely smile. We know becau se we feel. In our pakikipagkapwa (relating), we get not only to wear another man's shoe but also his heart. We have a superbly developed and honored gift of discernment, making us excellent leaders, counselors, and go-betweens.

Filipinos are very spiritual. We are transcendent. We transcend the physical world, see the unseen and hear the unheard. We have a deep sense of kaba (premonition) and kutob (hunch). A Filipino wife will instinctively feel her husband or child is going astray, whether or not telltale signs present themselves. Filipino spirituality makes him invoke divine presence or intervention at nearly every bend of his journey. Rightly or wrongly, Filipinos are almost always acknowledging, invoking or driving away spirits into and from their lives. Seemingly trivial or even incoherent events can take on spiritual significance and will be given such space or consideration. The Filipino has a sophisticated, developed pakiramdam. The Filipino, though becoming more and more modern (hence, materialistic) is still very spiritual in essence. This inherent and deep spirituality makes the Filipino, once correctly Christianized, a major exponent of the faith.

Filipinos are timeless. Despite the nearly half-a-millennium encroachment of the western clock into our lives, Filipinos-unless on very formal or official functions-still measure time not with hours and minutes but with feeling. This style is ingrained deep in our psyche. Our time is diffused, not framed. Our appointments are defined by umaga (morning), tanghali (noon ), hapon (afternoon), or gabi (evening). Our most exact time reference is probably katanghaliang-tapat (high noon), which still allows many minutes of leeway. That is how Filipino trysts and occasions are timed: there is really no definite time. A Filipino event has no clear-cut beginning nor ending. We have a fiesta , but there is visperas (eve), a day after the fiesta is still considered a good time to visit. The Filipino Christmas is not confined to December 25th; it somehow begins months before December and extends up to the first days of January.

Filipinos say good-bye to guests first at the head of the stairs, then down to the descanso (landing), to the entresuelo (mezzanine), to the pintuan (doorway), to the trangkahan (gate), and if the departing persons are to take public transportation, up to the bus stop or bus station. In a way, other people's tardiness and extended stays can really be annoying, but this peculiarity is the same charm of Filipinos who, being governed by timelessness, can show how to find more time to be nice, kind, and accommodating than his prompt and exact brothers elsewhere. Filipinos are Spaceless. As in the concept of time, the Filipino concept of space is not numerical. We will not usually express expanse of space with miles or kilometers but with feelings in how we say malayo (far)or malapit (near).

Alongside with numberlessness, Filipino space is also boundless. Indigenous culture did not divide land into private lots but kept it open for all to partake of its abundance. The Filipino has avidly remained "spaceless" in many ways. The interior of the bahay-kubo (hut) can easily become receiving room, sleeping room, kitchen, dining room, chapel, wake parlor, etc. Depending on the time of the day or the needs of the moment. The same is true with the bahay na bato (stone house). Space just flows into the next space that the divisions between the sala, caida, comedor, or vilada may only be faintly suggested by overhead arches of filigree. In much the same way, Filipino concept of space can be so diffused that one 's party may creep into and actually expropriate the street! A family business like a sari-sari store or talyer may extend to the sidewalk and street. Provincial folks dry palayan (rice grain) on the highways! Religious groups of various persuasions habitually and matter-of-factly commandeer streets for processions and parades.

It is not uncommon to close a street to accommodate private functions, Filipinos eat. sleep, chat, socialize, quarrel, even urinate, or nearly everywhere or just anywhere! "Spacelessness," in the face of modern, especially urban life, can be unlawful and may really be counter-productive. On the other hand, Filipino spacelessness, when viewed from his context, is just another manifestation of his spiritually and communal values. Adapted well to today's context, which may mean unstoppable urbanization, Filipino spacelessness may even be the answer and counter balance to humanity's greed, selfishness and isolation.

So what makes the Filipino special? Brown, spiritual, timeless, spaceless, linguists, groupists, weavers, adventurers; seldom do all these profound qualities find personification in a people. Filipinos should allow - and should be allowed to contribute their special traits to the world-wide community of men- but first, they should know and like themselves.

Your mobile phone can actually be a life saver or an emergency tool for survival. Check out the things that you can do with it:

The Emergency Number worldwide for Mobile is 112. If you find yourself out of coverage area of your mobile network and there is an emergency, dial 112 and the mobile will search any existing network to establish the emergency number for you, and interestingly this number 112 can be dialed even if the keypad is locked.

Have you locked your keys in the car? Does you car have remote keys? This may come in handy someday. Good reason to own a cell phone: If you lock your keys in the car and the spare keys are at home, call someone at home on their cell phone from your cell phone. Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the person at your home press the unlock button, holding it near the mobile phone on their end. Your car will unlock. Saves someone from having to drive your keys to you. Distance is no object. You could be hundreds of miles away, and if you can reach someone who has the other "remote" for your car, you can unlock the doors (or the trunk).

Hidden Battery power. Imagine your cell battery is very low, you are expecting an important call and you don't have a charger. Nokia instrument comes with a reserve battery. To activate, press the keys *3370#. Your cell will restart with this reserve and the instrument will show a 50% increase in battery. This reserve will get charged when you charge your cell next time.

How to disable a STOLEN mobile phone? To check your Mobile phone's serial number, key in the following digits on your phone: *#06#. A 15 digit code will appear on the screen. This number is unique to your handset. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe. when your phone get stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them this code. They will then be able to block your handset so even if the thief changes the SIM card, your phone will be totally useless. You probably won't get your phone back, but at least you know that whoever stole it can't use/sell it either. If everybody does this, there would be no point in people stealing mobile phones.

bakit ang tao
hindi makuntento
kung ano ang meron siya ngayon
kaya tuloy hindi siya masaya
sa kanyang buhay
hindi masama ang mangarap
ng magandang buhay
pero huwag naman natin
abutin ang imposible
ipagpasalamat na lang natin
kung ano ang meron tayo
at mangarap ng mga bagay
na makakatulong o makakabuti
hindi lang sa sarili kundi
pati na rin sa ibang tao..

Teh big move to Beta Blogger

1 Reaction(s)
err.. kung napapansin nyo hindi kayo makapag comment sa blogs ko or vice versa, iyon po ay dahil lumipat na ako sa Blogger Beta just like the other bloggers. ma re-retain pa rin ang mga old post nyo, iyon nga lang.. google account na gagamitin nyo sa pag login dito. sige iyon lang. kita-kits!!

Problems Related to Blogger Beta
One big problem with Blogger, right now, is the confusion over authentication. Under classic Blogger, you could have a Blogger account, with an account name. That account could be tied to any email account, with any email service. Blogger Beta ties your Blogger access to a Google email address. Unfortunately, even though you're not using Blogger Beta, you may be affected by changes to Classical Blogger, which support the Beta. Another thing unfortunately, you cannot post a comment on a non-beta blog or claim a mobile blog using your Google Account. These features are coming soon.

Yeah right!

Kasi alin man ang piliin ko tiyak may masa-sacrifice talaga, you can't have the best of both worlds ika nga.

"To all you people who go to church if you fell something weird whenever you hear mass just take it in. I swear you'll feel definitely better afterwards. A lot of people go to church hoping to hear God. I don't want to sound holier that thou here or something (I most certainly am not !!) but sometimes you just have to let go of your body and listen. He's there, He's talking to you from the inside. Giving you a heads up on what you are doing. Reminding you where you stand and hoping that you make the right decisions afterwards (right and wrong is a matter of perspective though and that's according to Him). And sometimes, if you're lucky He will give you a heads up on where you are going.. ^_^"

Ang Ingay nila

2 Reaction(s)

Story of Two Men in one Hospital Room

11 Reaction(s)
A great note for all, it will take just 37 seconds to read this and change your thinking..

Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room. One man was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help drain the fluid from his lungs. His bed was next to the room's only window. The other man had to spend all his time flat on his back. The men talked for hours on end. They spoke of their wives and families, their homes, their jobs, their involvement in the military service, where they had been on vacation.

Every afternoon when the man in the bed by the window could sit up, he would pass the time by describing to his roommate all the things he could see outside the window. The man in the other bed began to live for those one hour periods where his world would be broadened and enlivened by all the activity and color of the world outside.

The window overlooked a park with a lovely lake. Ducks and swans played on the water while children sailed their model boats. Young lovers walked arm in arm amidst flowers of every color and a fine view of the city skyline could be seen in the distance. As the man by the window described all this in exquisite detail, the man on the other side of the room would close his eyes and imagine the picturesque scene.

One warm afternoon the man by the window described a parade passing by. Although the other man couldn't hear the band - he could see it in his mind's eye as the gentleman by the window portrayed it with descriptive words.

Days and weeks passed.

One morning, the day nurse arrived to bring water for their baths, only to find the lifeless body of the man by the window, who had died peacefully in his sleep. She was saddened and called the hospital attendants to take the body away. As soon as it seemed appropriate, the other man asked if he could be moved next to the window. The nurse was happy to make the switch, and after making sure he was comfortable, she left him alone.

Slowly, painfully, he propped himself up on one elbow to take his first look at the real world outside. He strained to slowly turn to look out the window beside the bed. It faced a blank wall. The man asked the nurse what could have compelled his deceased roommate who had described such wonderful things outside this window. The nurse responded that the man was blind and could not even see the wall.

She said, "Perhaps he just wanted to encourage you."

Epilogue:

"There is tremendous happiness in making others happy, despite our own situations. Shared grief is half the sorrow, but happiness when shared, is doubled. If you want to feel rich, just count all the things you have that money can't buy. Today is a gift, that's why it is called the present."

Kumilos ka Antukin!

4 Reaction(s)

Yay! My 100th post!

14 Reaction(s)
Naks, may "party" atmosphere pang nalalaman!

Wala pa akong kilalang ibang blogger that time.

"I personally blame
Batibot for this epidemic of poor English reader/writers in the Philippines. I also blame the local TV stations who dub English programs into the vernacular simply because it would make things "easier to understand" and promotes so-called nationalism. I grew up watching Sesame Street, Electric Company, Looney Tunes, Popeye and English dubbed anime (such as Voltes V, Mazinger Z, etc.). Despite of that, I still feel nationalistic and I still speak Filipino fluently. I also blame the shift to Filipino as the medium of instruction in schools. When students graduate, the lingua franca of the local business world is still English, how can these students compete with graduates of schools that still uses English as their medium of instruction? Excuse me as I clean the "taladutdutan" (keyboard) and "daga" (mouse) of my computer..."

Rhotasicm is a speech disorder consisting of imperfect pronunciation of the r sound. Outside dialect, this is a medical condition consisting of an inability or difficulty in pronouncing the letter "r", due to the exercise of the many muscles in the tongue. Sad to say, meron po akong ganitong speech impediment. I can't pronounce "r" correctly, nagiging "w".. kaya ayoko talaga magsasalita ng mga word like pera, aurora nagiging "pewa at auwowa" although hindi naman ganun mismo pero pang ganun na nga kasi pagkakarinig ng iba, sabi naman nila medyo lang daw. I searched the net on how to correct or kahit papano eh ma exercise ang tongue ko para makapag pronounce na ako ng "r" correctly. I would like to share this article to other people who have this speech impediment..

Exercising the Rhotacism in Absence of Pathology
By Bernard Fogel, PhD, CCC-SLP

It is universally accepted that the rhotacism, a defective utterance of the /r/ sounds, is usually the last and most difficult American English consonant to correct functionally. In my practice this is not the case in the absence of a pathology. Maturity of the patient must be taken into consideration, physiologically and neurologically.

I use two methods to help correct the rhotacism.

The first is a six-step exercise that begins with having the youngster put the tip of the tongue on the upper gum behind the central incisors to produce the /l/ sound. The child should take a deep breath and use voice to make the /l/ sound. With the voice going, gently push the underside of the tongue into palatal arch with the tip of a tongue depressor. With the lateral segments of the tongue contacting the upper molars and tongue blade in the palatal arch, you will hear a perfect /r/ sound.

Do this several times and have the patient kinesthetically feel the tongue position in relation to the intra-oral position. Finally, have the patient open the mouth wide, comfortably, and say "ah." Slowly move the tongue back from the /l/ position and try to replicate the feel of the tongue formerly formed by the use of the tongue depressor.

Note: As the tongue blade turns back, it innervates the superior longitudinal muscles (intrinsic), making a slight trough.

A prerequisite for the second exercise is to make the patient aware of the tongue's ability to not only change in size but also to move laterally, upward/forward and backward, all with precision. All of these abilities are usually normal developments of the intrinsic and extrinsic musculature of the tongue.

The following are preliminary exercises for the tongue:

  • With the mouth comfortably opened wide, cup the tongue to hold approximately half a teaspoon of water, without spilling, for 10 seconds. Try to feel the corner of the mouth with the sides of the tongue.
  • Hold the tongue out steadily for 10 seconds. The tongue must be a) narrow, like an arrow; b) pointed at the tip, like an arrow; c) straight, like an arrow; and d) rounded on top so no water can pool on its dorsum.
  • Make the tongue narrow and wide 10 consecutive times. Do not move the mouth, lips or jaw.

The /r/ exercise begins by having the patient open the mouth wide and say "ah." The patient should keep the voice going as the tongue is cupped (inside the mouth).

As the lateral segments of the tongue contact the upper molars and the apex of the tongue is positioned in the palatal arch, you should hear the /r/ sound. It is important, kinesthetically, to feel the contact of the sides of the tongue pressing against the upper molars. The stronger the contact, the sharper the /r/ sound.

The patient then should say "ah" and slowly cup the tongue to get the /r/ sound. This should be done often, and the patient should attempt to do it faster.

Note: Be certain the patients does not move the lips. Involving the lips will produce a /w/ sound.

Beyond this point, clinicians should go on to the normal routine of /r/ exercises containing nonsense syllables, etc.

The Wit of the Filipino

while i was searching for the word "kicking pinay" (green minded kayo ah!), akala ko kasi meron nang ganitong movie title (starring Rosanna Roces and directed by Manoling Morato!), nakita ko lang ang isang article na ito.. tungkol sa pagiging malikhain ng mga Pinoy when it comes to shop namings..

The Wit of the Filipino

THERE’S A SIGN ON Congressional Avenue in Manila that says: “Parking for Costumers Only.” This may be a misspelling of “customer.” But the Philippine capital is so full of theatrical, brightly dressed individuals that I prefer to think it may actually mean what it says. This week, we’ll take a reading tour of one of the most spirited communities in Asia. The Philippines is full of wordplay. The local accent, in which F and P are fairly interchangeable, is often used very cleverly, such as at the flower shop in Diliman called Petal Attraction.

Much of the wordplay in the Philippines is deliberate, with retailers favouring witty names, often based on Western celebrities and movies. Reader Elgar Esteban found a bread shop called Anita Bakery, a 24-hour restaurant called Doris Day and Night, a garment shop called Elizabeth Tailoring and a hairdresser called Felix The Cut.

Smart travellers can decipher initially baffling signs by simply trying out a Taglish (Tagalog-English) accent, such as that used on a sign at a restaurant in Cebu: “We Hab Sop-Drink In Can An In Batol.” A sewing accessories shop called Beads And Pieces also makes use of the local accent.

Of course, there are also many signs with oddly chosen words, but they are usually so entertaining that it would be a tragedy to “correct” them. A reader named Antonio “Tonyboy” Ramon T. Ongsiako (now there’s a truly Filipino name) found the following: In a restaurant in Baguio: “Wanted: Boy Waitress;” on a highway in Pampanga: “We Make Modern Antique Furniture;” on the window of a photography shop in Cabanatuan: “We Shoot You While You Wait;” on the glass wall of an eatery in Panay Avenue in Manila: “Wanted: Waiter, Cashier, Washier.”

Some of the notices one sees are thought-provoking. A shoe store in Pangasinan has a sign saying: “We Sell Imported Robber Shoes.” Could these be the sneakiest sort of sneakers? On a house in Jaro, Iloilo, one finds a sign saying: “House For Rent, Fully Furnaced.” Tonyboy commented, “Boy, it must be hot in there.”

Occasionally, the signs are quite poignant. Reader Gunilla Edlund saw one at a ferry pier outside Davao, southern Philippines, which said: “Adults:1USD; Child: 50 cents; Cadavers: subject to negotiation.” But most are purely witty, and display a love of Americana. Reader Robert Harland spotted a bakery named Bread Pitt, a Makati fast-food place selling maruya (banana fritters) called Maruya Carey, a water-engineering firm called Christopher Plumbing, a boutique called The Way We Wear, a video rental shop called Leon King Video Rental, a restaurant in the Cainta district of Rizal called Caintacky Fried Chicken, a local burger restaurant called Mang Donald’s, a doughnut shop called MacDonuts, a shop selling lumpia (meat parcels) in Makati called Wrap and Roll, and two butchers called Meating Place and Meatropolis.

Tourists from Europe may be intrigued to discover shops called Holland Hopia and Poland Hopia. Both sell a type of Chinese pastry called hopia. What’s the story? The names are explained thus: Holland Hopia is the domain of a man named Ho and Poland Hopia is run by a man named Po.

People in the Philippines also redesign English to be more efficient.”The creative confusion between language and culture leads to more than just simple unintentional errors in syntax, but in the adoption of new words,” says reader Rob Goodfellow. He came across a sign that said “House Fersallarend.” Why use five words (house for sale or rent) when two will do?

Tonyboy Ongsiako explains why there was so much wit in the Philippines. “We come from a country where you require a sense of humour to survive,” he says. “We have a 24-hour comedy show here called the government and a huge reserve of comedians made up mostly of politicians and bad actors.”

Ceasefire

10 Reaction(s)
"The Israeli government on Sunday accepted UN terms for a ceasefire that would involve the deployment of a UN force of up to 15,000 troops in southern Lebanon to help enforce the truce. Both Israel and Hizbollah, however, have said they would respond to any violation of truce by other side. Resolution 1701 does not make the disarming of Hizbollah a prerequisite for a ceasefire. In 2004’s resolution 1559, the international community had called for all militias in Lebanon to be disarmed. Peacekeepers have said they will only enter southern Lebanon if they and the Lebanese army are the only armed groups. Diplomatic efforts were on Sunday focused on planning a UN force of up to 15,000 troops that is to be deployed alongside a similar-sized Lebanese army presence once the fighting ends. "
-Lebanon ceasefire comes into effect, Financial Times

There are no winners in wars; only losers. Both sides in any conflict suffer losses. The question is not who won the most but who lost the least."

Too Much Entertainment

mapagbabago mo alaalang taglay
sa iyo'y nagiging walang kamatayan.

Ikaw, na may diwang inibig ni Apeles
sa wika inamo ni Pebong kay rikit
sa isang kaputol na lonang maliit
ginuhit ang ganda at kulay ng langit.

Humayo ka ngayon, papagningasin mo
ang alab ng iyong isip at talino
maganda mong ngala'y ikalat sa mundo
at ipagsigawan ang dangal ng tao.

Araw na dakila ng ligaya't galak
magsaya ka ngayon, mutyang Pilipinas
purihin ang bayang sa iyo'y lumingap
at siyang nag-akay sa mabuting palad.

"I’m lucky I have good friends. People who cares and supports me no matter what kind of life I have for now. They encourage me and always tell me not to lose hope. They don’t want me to be disheartened. “Always be happy” is what they always say to me. I have a gift that other people, especially those close to me, sees inside of me. And that very same gift has made them happy as well. I feel significant for now. "

"The fact that the human body is mostly water largely contributes to the notion that the moon should have a powerful effect on the human body and therefore an effect on behavior. It is claimed by many that the earth and the human body both are 80% water. This is false. Eighty percent of the surface of the earth is water. Furthermore, the moon only affects unbounded bodies of water, while the water in the human body is bounded."
